Outdoor Volleyball in the USA

While in the USA, I had the chance to play many outdoor tournaments. Most of them during the summer and on grass surface. I also played beach volleyball several times down at Virginia Beach, but because the beach was about 4 hours away, I was not able to go as often as I wanted.

My strong suit outdoors is, without a doubt, reverse-coed tournaments. In these doubles tournaments a ten-foot line is painted with white spray on the grass and the net is raised to women's height. The team is composed of a guy and a girl which is the only one alowed to hit front row. Men are allowed to hit but taking off with their jump behind the painted ten-foot line. It is so much fun!!

I am very good friends with all of the players who were my partners but it is worth to mentioned that I found the perfect reverse-coed partner whith whom I enjoyed every single point I played with him and who became a friend for life. You are the best RAY!!

Another interesting format of grass volleyball in the USA is the coed-sixes. In this format there are three women players and three men players. The net is set to men's height and the rotation of the team has to be one guy followed by one girl. Another interesting rule is that out of the three touches each team has, at least one HAS to be made by a girl or the point is lost. I enjoy playing this format a lot and I had great teams everytime I played. The most important tournaments we won were DIGS 2005 and DIGS 2006.
