ABOUT ME

Short bio

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on January 20th 1982.

I lived in Capital Federal (the capital and largest city in the country) with my parents until I turned 17 when I moved to Macaé, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to play the local junior volleyball league (see 3 months in Brazil).

My experience in Brazil showed me that I could play professional volleyball but it also made me realize that volleyball was not the only thing I liked to do, I enjoyed studying and learning new things, and professional volleyball rarely gives you the chance to do that.

With this idea in mind, I decided to look for a way of combining those things I liked to do and unfortunately (or fortunately) for me, Argentina did not offer a way to do it for what I had to look outside my country to make my dream of studying and playing volleyball at a high level, a reality.

After a long search and an even longer process of decision making and paperwork, I found the United States of America to be the place where I could make my dream come true. And so it was that I arrived to Fairfax, VA on August 9th of 2001.

I spent the next five years playing Division I volleyball and studying Systems Engineering at George Mason University from where I graduated with honors and a 3.5 GPA on May of 2006.

When I was done with college, I had to make the big decision of whether to start working, continue studying (or both) or give professional volleyball a shot.  This time volleyball became a priority and on September 4th 2006 I left for Lleida, Spain, to play professionally. (See Pro Volleyball in Spain).

Then it came the time for me to try something different, something new, and so I decided to go back to Argentina and put my engineering degree to work.  I worked for ExxonMobil while continuing playing volleyball for about a year. The experience was great but it also made me realize that I office life was not for me and that a volleyball court was still much more exciting for what I decided to try professional volleyball one more time.

This time volleyball took me to its Meca, Italy. There I had the chance to be involved in some of the best volleyball in the world, meet amazing people and enjoy learning italian, all with Acqua e Sapone Citta di Aprilia.

As life would want it, after spending a great summer in the US visiting friends and new cities, I returned to Italy, this time to Rome where I started working for Volleyrò a prestigious volleyball club with the objective of developing young volleyball players. I was enjoying my job a lot but missing too much playing volleyball and when the chance of playing again came along... I took it! (See An adventure in Switzerland)

Back to Italy, all my time and money was spent to get the appropriate documents to live and play as an italian and after many dollars and many hours waiting in long lines I got the paperwork done and was able to live and play in Italy as any other italian citizen. Volleyball teams started to call and I finally decided to play for AST Latina Volley. The B1 tournament starts on October 16th 2010.

But of course that couldn't be all, and so I started a little company called Sportlinx 360 with the main purpose of helping young student-athletes from all over the world get scholarships in the United States.
