High School
Instituto Libre de Segunda Enseñanza (ILSE), Buenos Aires, Argentina (1995-1999)
One of the best HS in Argentina, this private institute has some of the best HS teachers in the country. Unlike most of the countries’ high schools, an admissions exam is needed to get a spot and therefore only a small number of the students applying get to go. The institute has also French and Latin languages as required subjects in every student’s schedule. ILSE provides its students with the possibility of attending a 6th year instead of doing the mandatory CBC (Ciclo Básico Común) for attending the public university, UBA (Universidad de Buenos Aires).
I had a great experience at ILSE and I recommend the school to all students and parents.
University
George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, USA. (2001-2006)
Mason is one the top universities in Virginia. Two Nobel Prize winners were at Mason during my time there and the basketball team got to the NCAA Final Four. Those are just some of the highlights of an unbelievable experience that I would also recommend to everyone who thinks life is made of the sum of our experiences, and being exposed to a different culture is certainly one of them.
I studied Systems Engineering and I graduated with honors in May 2006.
Non-formal education
I believe the most valuable information in life is the one we collect from the people we interact with every day. Being part of sport teams since I was 9 years old taught me more than any workshop in team-building I could pay for. Living in other countries and being immerse in different cultures has no value when you are in an uncomfortable situation and are asked to look at it from a different point of view.
Topics for current and future study
I am convinced learning is an on-going experience; there’s always something new to learn. I love languages; I’m fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese and Italian and I have some knowledge of French. I would like to learn another European language like German maybe and an Asian one (Chinese, most likely). I guess an Arabic language is a bit out of my league… but you never know.
I would also like to learn more about sports management. I signed up for a course in Sports Directing (Dirigente Sportivo) in Rome while I keep learning invaluable information working for volleyball society at Rome, where all the main volleyball federations are as well as the CONI (Italian Olimpic Center).
I also believe that to have control of your own life a person needs to know about finances and economics. I’ve been reading a lot on these topics and I will continue to do so.
